Workshop: "Innovation and Regulation for Sustainability", MAC

The Workshops "Innovation and Regulation for Sustainability" has been organized within the framework of the "Co-operation in the field of Environment and Sustainable Development" between the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning of the Republic of Macedonia and the Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea of the Republic of Italy.
It has taken place in Tetovo at South East European University conference hall on September 29th 2011.
The first session was aimed at presenting the results of the Project "Realization of a Low Emission Campus at the South East European University in Tetovo" through the Climate Action Plan launch and the grand opening of the Sustainable Energy Building.
The Climate Action Plan of the SEE University is considered as a first essential step for the long term commitment of the University towards environment protection and carbon neutrality.
The Project will drive the future development of the Campus through a sustainability-oriented approach for the realization of policies and energy systems.
The second session was focuses on the key concepts of: Sustainable Development-Regulation-Innovation-Approximation. To this end, it presented the SEE Countries-EU Approximation Process features, requirements and challenges with particular regard to the EU Environment and Energy Acquis.
The overall aim of this session was to show that the duty of approximation to the EU Environment and Energy Acquis rising from the SEE-EU Stabilization and Association Process, paves the road for the achievement of sustainable development and low carbon economy growth, at the same time leading SEE Countries to full EU integration.
